Cosy Throws

March 18th, 2022

Does a gift get much more personal than being able to pin point the exact sheep it came from? We think not!

Cosy Throws was born out of necessity during the first lockdown when I really wanted a chunky throw I had seen online but hated the extortionate price tag it came with! I taught myself how to arm knit on Youtube and before I knew it all of my friends and family wanted one for themselves so I made the big step to quit my job and become a full time arm knitter!

I quickly ran into the problem of wool being very expensive to buy, the best supplier was in Spain and the wait times were huge and the price ever increasing. After lots of deliberation I made the life changing decision to buy my own flock of sheep so that only 6 months into the business we were able to say that our throws and accessories were all hand made by myself and came from our own sheep in the Brecon Beacons!

We are now delighted to have our throws in several cafes in Abergavenny and were even approached by John Lewis to do two pop up shops in 2021 which was an amazing experience.

Our best seller is definitely our medium sized throw (£65) which is perfect for one person to snuggle under. We can dye the wool any colour you’d like so we love knowing you are getting the exact item you are looking for.

My favourite item is our chunky knit hot water bottle (£35). I personally think it makes a great affordable gift and is so soft and cwtchy to hold. (It’s what my Mum is getting this year for Mother’s Day!)

Another big area of our business that has grown naturally are our arm knitting workshops! The way they work are:

  1. you let me know what product you’d like to make and in what colour
  2. we arrange a date you can come to us
  3. you attend and make your throw and meet our lovely sheep (if you’d like to!)

We will come to you if you prefer if the group is larger than 5 and workshop gift vouchers are also available where the recipient can pick their colour when they make contact with us!
