Focus Magazines The local magazines for Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Brecon & Talgarth – Events, News and Advertising

Scouting has a long history in Crickhowell and Llangattock and for today’s boys and girls we have both a growing membership and a programme of activities to challenge all ages from 6 years upwards.

Despite being over 100 years old Scouting remains one of the largest organisations in the UK with over 500,000 young people and 100,000 adults involved; numbers which, we are proud to say, have been growing for the last several years. In fact due to local demand we are about to launch a new section in January with new leaders ready for the big Beavers 30th Birthday celebration.

We still offer the traditional Scouting strengths of making friends, getting outdoors, building confidence, supporting our community and having fun while doing it. But what do we offer young people, well we thought we would let them tell you…

We have an action packed programme for 2016. The Scouts are planning a camp in Finland and closer to home, in Builth Wells and Cubs will be celebrating their 100th birthday next year joining in with lots of celebrations being planned across the World.

But it’s not just the children that get to have fun. It’s a great opportunity for adults as well to get involved in fun and challenging activities, learn new skills and it’s hugely rewarding to be making a difference to the lives of our young people. You don’t have to be an adventurer like Bear Grylls to get involved with Scouting or dedicate huge amounts of time either as there are many opportunities ranging from helping out with our Sections (Beavers, Cubs or Scouts) to being part of the non-uniformed team who keep the group on the road for the youngsters.

If this all sound interesting come along and find out more. We have our own Scout Hall on Castle Road in Crickhowell where Cubs (age 8-10½ years) meet on a Thursday evening and Scouts (age 10½ to 14 years) meet on a Wednesday evening and we are restarting Beavers for younger boys and girls (age 6-8 years) in the New Year. We also organise adventures at weekends and during school holidays so please visit us or check us out on www.crickhowell-scouts.co.uk or www.facebook.com/CrickhowellScouts or contact Jane Lee, Chair on 07773 333926, Jenny Papamichail, Scout Leader 07894 328195 or Mel Wolfenden, Cub Leader 07930 186802
