The Easter bonnet competition has gone from strength to strength since it was first held at the Miserable Cow Coffee Bar, Cibi Walk five years ago.

Fiona Beavan, owner of the Miserable Cow, has developed the event to the point where now it involves the whole town centre. Fiona said:

‘Last year we were so lucky to have such a hot day and a fabulous party atmosphere in Cibi Walk, N H Sound provided us with live music during the day and we had raffles, egg hunts, pin the tail on the bunny and mad dancing! It was egg-stremely successful with twice as many entrants, each year I get so excited to see the wonderful imagination that everyone puts into their hats and costumes and I love the fact that many of the same children and adults enter’.

As in previous years, the town Mayor will again be invited to join the giant Pink Easter Bunny to assist leading the parade through the town and help with the judging for the top prizes.

group of bikers outside hospital

‘Last year’s wonderful weather made it a great day down at the bus station.  I was hopping around all the bikers putting a smile on their face before we set off on our bikes to the Hospital.  It was great to see some of the same bikers as last year join me in our run to deliver Easter eggs to the Children’s ward.  Afterwards several motor bikers joined me on a bunny bike ride to Brecon, and I was pretty glad to get moving on my bike as I was a boiling bunny in my outfit!’

This will take place on Sunday 8th April Fiona will be at the bus station from 11.30 am and the bike ride will start 1.00 pm.

children in hospital ward with easter biker bunny!

‘I aim to get as many bikers to join me in an Aberga-bunny bike ride through the town dressed up in appropriate Easter costumes. We will then ride from the bus station to Nevill Hall Hospital to deliver Easter eggs to the children’s ward. There is no entrance fee, but when we arrive at the hospital I am sure that each biker will be happy to a make donation to the children’s ward for the purchase of equipment”.
