Focus Magazines The local magazines for Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Brecon & Talgarth – Events, News and Advertising

I began my hairdressing career at the age of 14 with Phillip Mungeam at the Celtic Manor. Back then I was responsible for washing hair and sweeping up, but after two weeks of work experience, I knew without a doubt that hairdressing was definitely the career for me!

My passion to become a hairdresser didn’t dwindle, and when I left school I began my training at McCarthy’s in Crickhowell when I worked on my Level 1 Certificate in Hairdressing. From there I moved to Feodora’s in Abergavenny for a further five years and completed my training. Later I moved to Lucy Hockey’s where I spent three years gaining a bigger clientele and furthering my career.

In amongst all of this, I had my two beautiful children; William and Ellie, now age 13 and 9! Having children led me, in 2011, to make the bold decision to move away from salons and start my own business as a mobile hairdresser, which would allow me to juggle work and spend time with my children.

Last April I decided to go back to my roots and rented a chair at Ellie Reed Beauty where I gained a big clientele and found the confidence to make my next bold move…

On 2nd September this year I received the offer of a lifetime – the chance to open my very own salon! In my more anxious moments I worry whether I have done the right thing, but the support from clients, family and friends pushes me on and gives me the confidence I need to really go for it. None of this would have been possible without them, in particular my husband Gareth who has championed me from the very beginning.

I am so excited to show off my new salon, which opens on 26th October, and I cannot wait to welcome clients old and new. Get in contact now to make your booking. I really look forward to welcoming you.
