Many of our readers will have already heard about Jacob Jones and his current cancer treatment, and will have bought red bows to show support. Here is his story, as told by his Nan, Dawn Jones, and further details about how you can donate to raise much needed funds for Jacob’s ongoing treatment.
A week before Christmas 2017, Jacob Jones was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer – Neuroblastoma, the survival rate of which is 38 – 40%. Jacob spent both Christmas and his second Birthday in the Heath hospital and is currently undergoing his treatment of chemotherapy, with two more sessions to go. After that hopefully his kidney will be removed and then it will be onto more chemo and radiotherapy.
Jacob’s Dad, Alwyn Jones, is from Abergavenny and Mum, Emma Williams, is from Ebbw Vale. This has been a very traumatic and devastating time for the whole family as it’s something that you think is never going to happen to you. Jacob has a long road ahead of him and once this treatment has been completed we need to get him to America for treatment, which is not available on the NHS. We are currently trying to raise £250,000 and so far there is £24,669 in the fund. We are selling red car bows at a cost of £2 each or handbag/school bag bows for £1, and these are proving very popular. The Abergavenny Round Table started us off with a donation of £500, which was fantastic.
There is a Facebook Page (@jacobwarrior) where you can make a donation and keep track of any fundraising events. Please check this out and keep sharing events as this helps us to raise more money for our brave little warrior.
