Focus Magazines The local magazines for Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Brecon & Talgarth – Events, News and Advertising

“A little gem. Small but packed with interest. Well loved by the local community. The attached bakery and cafe is a delight.”
Facebook Review, Sept 2017

Talgarth Mill opened its doors in the summer of 2011 after an extensive restoration funded by The Big Lottery. Six years on, we are thriving as a productive watermill, milling four days a week, and delivering our award-winning flour and Bread Kits to customers across Wales and beyond. As well as making flour, our Mill has a lot to offer local visitors and those from further afield:

  • Join a Tour – hear our expert, volunteer guides describe the history of the Mill, the story of its renovation, and how it operates today as a productive watermill.
  • Enjoy the gardens – walk along the leat, take a break and relax at one of the riverside viewing spots. Keep a look out for wildlife – an otter has been spotted in the river!
  • Take a break – have tea, coffee, cake or lunch at The Bakers’ Table. Come for a quiet coffee, catch up with friends, or enjoy a group celebration lunch or afternoon tea. Look out for special, seasonal bakes to eat in or take away!
  • Bake! – pick up some flour or a Bread Kit (containing all ingredients and instructions) and make your own tasty loaves at home. Choose from 9 types of flour and 7 Bread Kits, including five Great Taste Award winners. Bread Kits are fantastic fun for family baking and make great gifts.
  • Buy a gift – and support one of the 36 local knitters, potters, painters, felters and craftmakers who are part of Talgarth Mill Craft Shop.
  • Book a course – a variety of courses for bakers (from beginners to speciality doughs and breads), makers (felting, weaving, stitching, knitting) and “millers” (our special “taste of milling” session lets you take every step from starting the wheel to making your own bag of flour). Look out for our regular “drop in” workshops for children during school holidays.

Make this the month to come and visit the Mill and see what we have to offer! And follow us on Facebook for regular updates on courses, activities and baking treats.
