Focus Magazines The local magazines for Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Brecon & Talgarth – Events, News and Advertising

Abergavenny’s Suitcase Theatre Company is following up its successful production of Dickens’s Hard Times with an out-and-out comedy which will keep audiences amused from start to finish.

Their next show is The Golden Pathway Annual by John Harding and John Burrows, which takes you on a comic journey through time, with George and Enid Peters and their son, Michael.

Born just after the end of the Second World War, Michael is a ‘bulge baby’, and his parents want to do everything they can to help him down the golden pathway to success. We laugh, (and sometimes cry) with them as Michael negotiates primary school, the dreaded 11+, grammar school and university. On the way he solves a mystery with the Terrific Three, negotiates the perils of Bob-a-Job week, comes faces to face with one of James Bond’s arch-enemies, and even engages in an anti-Vietnam War protest. But will the golden pathway lead Michael to the glorious future that his parents so desire? An amusing trip through the 1950s and 60s, accompanied by classic tracks from the hit parade, awaits all who book a ticket for this show.

Performances take place at the Melville Theatre on Friday 17/Saturday 18 November, 7.30pm. Tickets: £9 (u18s: £6). Please phone 01873 853167 for reservations. In addition, the show will tour to Blaenavon Working Men’s Hall (Friday 24 November) and the Memorial Hall, Cwmyoy (Saturday 25 November).
