Brecon Drink Can Recycling has set up crowd funding in the hope that they will be able to purchase much needed equipment – a can crusher and compactor.
What we do:
We collect from the public, local bars and cafes around Brecon. Collected drinks cans are then separated by hand and crushed under foot, then we weigh them in and that payment is then sent to food kitchens food banks and the homeless. The work which is done is entirely voluntary.
Why we need the equipment
At first we had been collecting around 10kg to 30kg per week, an amount which was easily dealt with. However, in recent months this has increased to 1 – 1.5 tonnes per month. This has affected turn around, the process has slowed, and the back log has become unmanageable. As a result finances for those in need has slowed in reaching them, so the only solution is to obtain equipment. At this time we do not have the finances to cover the full cost of the equipment, and so we are looking for your help. If you are able to donate just £1 towards the cost of equipment we would be very grateful.
