Focus Magazines The local magazines for Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Brecon & Talgarth – Events, News and Advertising

Readers who have delivered their baby at Nevill Hall Hospital will already be familiar with the excellent work and support offered by the midwifery team and hospital staff.

Did you know there is now an Abergavenny Birth Centre in the hospital, which opened as recently as last September? The new Birth Centre is led by the midwifery team at the hospital and allows women with low risk pregnancies to give birth in a relaxed, spacious and welcoming area of Nevill Hall Maternity Unit. The unit promotes and maintains ‘normality’ in labour in a way that is harder to achieve in the surroundings of the necessarily higher tech environment of the Labour Ward. The Centre is fully equipped with a birthing pool for those wishing to have a water birth, as well as bean bags, birth balls, dimmable lighting, CD players, reclining chairs and birth mats; all of which create a comfortable, stress free environment for the mother-to-be and her birth partner.

The Abergavenny Birth Centre is a fantastic addition to the maternity provision available at Nevill Hall, where it’s hoped that 30% of Nevill Hall births can take place. Since the opening of the Birth Centre last year, feedback from those who have used the facilities has been overwhelmingly positive.
