Art lovers in Crickhowell may remember an exhibition held at the Silver Birch Gallery (now closed) featuring pop art style images of sheep and other animals juxtaposed with contrasting wallpaper backgrounds.

nig-karin-110511-a1This was in 2003 and it was the first exhibition of digital art by Aberdare born artists Karin Mear and Nigel Evans who had, at the time, moved back to Wales having lived in London for many years. The exhibition was titled ‘Baaah’ and the artists worked under this name for several years with exhibitions at Brecknock Museum, Cynon Valley Museum, The Globe At Hay, Wyeside Arts Centre and Islington Business Centre before moving onto other projects.

With the popularity of social media, Baaah has come to the forefront again, with people asking for prints and whether there could be exhibitions of the work once more. Not wanting to disappoint, Karin and Nigel have put together a greatest hits collection of farmyard favourites for exhibitions at Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon as part of The Christmas Collection from November 18 until January 4 and also at Havard & Havard Antiques on Cowbridge High Street from November 4 until Christmas.

Find Baaah on Facebook, email karinmearart@gmail.com or call 07926 196714 with any enquiries. Please note if making a special trip to either of the exhibitions please ring beforehand to check opening times. Theatr Brycheiniog 01874 611622 / Havard & Havard Antiques 01446 775021.
