The 2016-2017 Brecon Film Society season gets underway this month on 5th September with the showing of Rams, a story set in a remote Icelandic farming valley where two brothers who have not spoken to one another in 40 years have to come together in order to save what’s dearest to them – their sheep.

The showing of Rams heralds the beginning of another season of great films from Brecon Film Society, showcasing cinematic storytelling at its finest. You can catch the latest gritty drama from Ken Loach or a classic thriller from Carol Reed. As well as feuding Icelandic farmers, there are cricketing Maasai warriors and avenging Aberystwyth librarians. Alsongside all of this, there’s a special evening of historic films, featuring a silent classic with live piano accompaniment and a chance to view rare and unseen footage of Cardiff and Brecon.

The Film Society prides itself on selecting the best new releases and classic movies from British and World Cinema in order to present a varied and eclectic season that all film lovers are certain to enjoy. Films are screened on the first Monday of each month at the Coliseum Cinema, Brecon and doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. Non-members are welcome – admission is £6 to each film.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Brecon Film Society, please contact Membership Secretary, Judith Fitton on 01874 623166. Membership is £35 per annum. For more details about the forthcoming season and full listing of dates and films, visit www.coliseumbrecon.co.uk
