The vision of a number of active community members, partnerships with public, private and community sectors plus a lot of hard work more than ten years ago resulted in the construction of a new building in the heart of Crickhowell.  The Crickhowell Resource and Information Centre (CRiC) is now a vibrant community hub and visitor attraction including the oriel cric gallery showcasing art of outstanding quality.

You are invited to join CRiC staff, volunteers and trustees at our Open Day on Sat 9th July as we celebrate our tenth year of welcoming around half a million visitors to the town and serving the local community with a wide range of office and technical services and facilities.  During the Open Day we will be serving free coffee and tasters, testers and demonstrations will be offered whilst you browse the locally made gifts and produce.

In the afternoon at 2:30pm CRiC’s Chairman David Thomas will launch the oriel cric gallery’s new summer exhibition “Celebrate” which includes work by “Seven:14” a group of artists from Cardiff who will be exhibiting prints, textiles and ceramics.  This year’s art display by senior students of the Crickhowell High School in collaboration with The Rotary Club of Crickhowell will also be unveiled by Rotary President Hywel Bevan. The “Celebrate” exhibition will continue until September 12th.

There will be opportunities during the day to view CRiC’s Studio space at Beaufort Chambers – an additional space to hire for your course, workshop, talk or pop-up exhibition.

In its celebration year CRiC has already organised and hosted more than 90 walks, talks and events during the Crickhowell walking festival attracting around 70% of participants from outside of Crickhowell and a third staying locally for 3 nights or more during the 9 day period; organized and managed the spring bank holiday weekend of Open Studios with more than 40 participating artists and hosted the third open art competition and exhibition, showcasing around 150 pieces of work.  In September CRiC will host a Charity Gala Dinner at The Manor Hotel to raise much needed funds for Tenovus cancer care and for CRiC.  Tickets will be available to purchase from CRiC at the Open Day and thereafter.

Centre Manager, Jan Morgan attributes CRiC’s growth and success to the staff and volunteer team’s enthusiasm in embracing CRiC’s objectives of supporting small businesses and individuals and promoting the area for visitors.  “Join us on July 9th as we celebrate our successes and look forward with our volunteer team to the next 10 years of supporting Crickhowell’s businesses, community and all the visitors who come from far and wide to explore our beautiful area within the Brecon Beacons National Park.”
