Focus Magazines The local magazines for Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Brecon & Talgarth – Events, News and Advertising

I have been in the post now for three months and I have been able to attend a number of council meetings, including Abergavenny Town Council.  I am hoping to visit some of the Community Council meetings too.

At the council meetings I have attended, I have been providing an update on the progress of our burglary investigations and I know this is a topic of interest to many readers. I can report that there has been a reduction in dwelling burglaries, with only four dwelling burglaries being reported in the Monmouthshire North area. None of these were of the type we have previously experienced and none of these were in the Osbaston area.  Long may this continue!

In relation to the high value car thefts and where arrests had been made, I can inform you that one of these men has been re-arrested and charged with offences relating to the burglaries and has been recalled to prison.  The investigation is still continuing and the other two men remain on police bail.  I will keep you updated.

Earlier this month saw a road safety demonstration in Abergavenny, attended by all the Emergency Services and a vehicle recovery agent, as well as a local Rally Team.  The event gave a stark reminder of the consequences of irresponsible driving and will be followed up by a day of action, looking at anti-social driving and the offences that are associated.  The event showed how professional and proficient our colleagues in the Emergency Services are at dealing with serious collisions, with demonstrations of removing trapped people from vehicles.

Our Abergavenny officers have recently teamed up with the NatWest, Age Cymru and Trading Standards to promote safe banking and to try to prevent people becoming victims of Scams.  If you have any queries about this, then contact CSO Amanda Yung at Abergavenny.  We are looking to do more of this collaborative work to protect the community, so if you have any ideas, let me know.

Take care and be safe.
