Nestled in the heart of the Brecons Beacons National Park, Talybont on Usk is a little village that attracts visitors from all over the world.
It is well known for its bike trails, walking, canoeing, boating along the canal and of course several well known pubs! However the local tourism group have been wracking their brains for an unusual and fun event which would pull together the local community and visitors alike. And so the idea of the very first Talybont Canal Raft Race was born!
On Saturday 12th September Talybont on Usk will be holding its first ever Canal Raft Race. This will be brilliant fun and not only for spectators! Why not think about entering a team of four and using the event to raise money for a charity of your choice too?
Build your own raft then see how fast you can get down the course on the canal. There will be cash prizes for the fastest raft and the most creatively decorated so you can go down a technical route or just get plain crazy. You know you want to!
Everyone is welcome and there will be a bbq, music and prize giving back at the village hall in Talybont from 4pm. The race starts at 3pm so, even if you aren’t in a team, feel free to come along and cheer along the rafts. For an entry pack and more information visit www.talybontonusk.com/events
