crick-fcCrickhowell Football Club has been in existence since 1893, originally wearing black and white colours, playing in a weekly league made up of Powys based teams.

The club flourished from its humble origins and junior teams were formed along with a strong local fan base. However, due to the outbreak of both the first and Second World War, the clubs fortunes fluctuated throughout the 20th century. In modern years the club has overcome the foot and mouth outbreak of 2001 and with the efforts of local people it has begun the rebuilding process once again. The club left the Powys set up in the mid 1990’s in order to pursue new challenges in the Gwent Central league set up. This led to quick success winning Division 1 and gaining promotion to the highest level that the club has ever played at, Gwent County football League.

As is the case with all local sports clubs the role that both they and Crickhowell F.C. play in the development of a community atmosphere is vital. There is nothing more satisfying as a club than seeing our young junior members develop and grow into talented sportsmen and women as well as fostering positive attitudes towards health and fitness. The role in providing a safe and secure environment for young people to enjoy sport can also not be underestimated. For Crickhowell and the surrounding area the football club provides opportunity for members young and old socialise and engage in sporting activity.

The club currently boasts 2 senior teams and 7 junior sides with well over 300 members. In the season 2013-14 the club won its first silverware for a decade and are currently in the semi finals of all trophies entered as well as once again top of Gwent Central Division 1. This has been largely thanks to increased local support in the form of local sponsorship. Local sports clubs, not least Crickhowell F.C. depends heavily upon funding from local sources and this along with numerous club run fundraisers has aided the clubs development. We are continually looking to attract new members and sponsors and if anybody would like to support the improvement of facilities and club development they should contact Huw Morgans (Club Secretary) via email on crickhowellfc@hotmail.co.uk. All help really is greatly appreciated and any support no matter how small is a huge help to our voluntarily run club.

All new faces are always welcome to Elvicta Football Ground, home of Crickhowell F.C., with the juniors playing numerous fixtures on Saturday mornings and the seniors playing regularly on Saturday afternoons. Come along and join the Club!
