mens-shedGentlemen, can we have your attention? Are you a man who wishes he had more to do? Do you enjoy things like woodwork, tool making or engineering? Or perhaps you enjoy using your mind and experience to repair things around the home? Perhaps your Dad or Grandfather would benefit from getting out of the house and into the community? If any of these statements apply to you; then we’re sure you’d love our Men’s Sheds project.

A Men’s Shed is a larger version of the typical man’s shed in the garden – a place where he feels at home and pursues practical interests with a high degree of autonomy. A Men’s Shed offers this to a group of such men where members share the tools and resources they need to work on projects of their own choosing at their own pace and in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue. They are places of skill-sharing and informal learning, of individual pursuits and community projects, of purpose, achievement and social interaction. A place of leisure where men come together to work.

On Monday the 9th of February we are holding a Men’s Sheds coffee morning at Wellfield close community centre. We already have a ‘Shed’ in the Mardy Area, and it is available for use as soon as we get the group started. We’re hoping it will provide a relaxing and friendly place to meet your mates and get on with a project. So if you’re feeling a bit lonely or you’re at a loss as to what to do with your spare time, or you’d like to help others, please come to our coffee morning. The venue is Wellfield Close Community Centre, Old Hereford Road, Abergavenny, NP7 6EH. February 9th from 10am – noon.
