Thinking of starting a business? Business Wales can help!
If you have an idea that you want to develop into a business, the Welsh Government can help you get started and improve your chances of success. They offer a range of services to help you start and grow your business, including introduction sessions to get you thinking about running your business, as well as face to face advice surgeries with professional business advisors to help develop your idea and support you once you have started trading.
Among the services that the Government offers is a range of workshops available to those thinking of or who have already started-up. The workshops include ‘Taking the Plunge’ sessions, designed to help you test out your business idea and plans along with like-minded people. Call 03000 603 000 to book a place. Alternatively, you might be interested in a Start-Up workshop, which helps with the basics of running a business and developing your plans. Innovation workshops assist with those whose business is about creating a new product or service and cover areas such as Intellectual Property and Compliance Design and Manufacture.
The Welsh Government also offers a number of bursaries, including a start up bursary for recent graduates and a Young Entrepreneur’s Bursary for young people aged 16 to 24. Loans are also available to entrepreneurs whose business is under 12 months old. The start-up loan scheme offers low cost, unsecured loans of between £1,000 and £25,000, typically to be paid back within 5 years. Advisers at the Welsh Government’s business start-up service will help you pitch for a loan to a business panel.
