2012 marks 60 years of the Queen’s reign. Not since Queen Victoria has a monarch spent sixty years on the British throne. With an extra long holiday weekend between 2nd and 5th of June to mark the occasion, there’s plenty to get involved in to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
The weekend looks set to be chocker full of different community events which have been organised for Abergavenny. There’s something for everyone to enjoy throughout the weekend with dozens of local community groups and organisations getting involved. The town council have planned for the construction of an ‘entertainment stage auditorium’ in Brewery Yard on 2nd June with a packed schedule of afternoon entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. On 5th June, Bailey Park will be transformed for a Community Festival & Fun Day where there will be fun and entertainment, including sport demonstrations, workshops, music, dance, martial arts and the chance for members of the public to sample the activities of Abergavenny’s voluntary organisations and societies!
