threads – weaving stories Exhibition

The art collaboration ‘threads grew from ‘The Community Shawl Project’, which looks at the importance of the strength that is manifested when women connect, and the healing process that begins when they share their stories, and ‘The Red Art Project’, which looks at serious issues around women’s empowerment and seeks to creatively explore women’s many stories.

Inspired by Kirstie Macleod’s The Red Dress Embroidery Project, the collaboration incorporates many complementary strands – these include:
acknowledging and encouraging the importance of women working and creating together; the importance of community, the
understanding the roots leading to femicide, to helping women express their resilience and creativity through learning new crafts or dance.

threads members are: Emma Bevan-Henderson, Liz Davis, Carol Kay and Mary Wrenn.
We invited other artists join us, and are delighted to work alongside Helen Crawford, Sue Hiley Harris, Michael Howard, Hannah Hughes and Jo Hughes.

The exhibition runs from Wednesday 5th March to 5th April, Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10:00am to 4:30pm

There are also several events running throughout March: https://www.foundgallery.co.uk/-/galleries/events-at-found
