Great Expectations
Charles Dickens’s “Great Expectations” charts the search by its central character, Pip, for wealth and social position in order to win the love of the haughty Estella.
Plucked from his happy life at the forge by visits to the eccentric Miss Havisham, Pip falls in love with Estella and turns his back on his home life.
When an unexpected legacy allows him to become a “gentleman”, he travels to London to live out his dream.
But one rainy night a knock at the door turns his dream into a nightmare, when the past suddenly catches up with him in an unexpected way.
Abergavenny’s Suitcase Theatre Company brings to life this compelling story in a production which is both vivid and heartfelt.
