Thirty years ago, her son Stephen was murdered in a racist attack.
Since then, Baroness Lawrence has continued to work for all those confronted by racial injustice and police corruption. For twenty-two years she was director and president of the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Foundation. And in September 2013 became a life peer sitting on the Labour benches in the House of Lords.
She writes: “I continue to provide a ‘legacy of hope’ for young people, in particular boys of colour and disadvantaged communities with educational opportunities, community cohesion, and career advancement. ”
