This week’s offering focusses on Plaid Cymru president Gwynfor Evans’s fight to establish S4C. In 1979 Thatcher became PM and promised to establish a Welsh language TV channel: months later she made a U-turn. This provoked civil unrest led by Evans who embarked on a hunger strike, gathered widespread support and eventually S4C was launched.
