This is a factually based historical drama set in mid nineteenth century Italy. A 6 year old Jewish boy is kidnapped and forcibly converted on the orders of Pope Pious IX. The film, powerful and relevant, tackles religious conviction, institutional abuse and the possible consequences of separating a child from its family.
