Firefighters have one of the most respected jobs in the community. They are dedicated and skilled individuals who receive on going training to support their continuous personal and professional development and are paid for their service and commitment.

BA-Donning-&-Pre-entrySouth Wales Fire and Rescue Service are recruiting Retained Duty System Firefighters to work on a Part-Time basis within the local communities of  ABERGAVENNY, MONMOUTH and CHEPSTOW.

The service is keen to hear from females and people of minority communities who can play an important role within our highly trained and close-knit team.

Retained Duty System firefighters come in all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life; they include shopkeepers, builders, plumbers, farmers, secretary’s, engineers, and directors of companies, together with people who are not currently employed.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Retained Duty System Firefighters are recruited on the basis of the cover they are able to provide. They are alerted to an incident through a bleeper that is provided to all retained duty system personnel. Once alerted they must be able to reach the fire station within 5 minutes.

  • A Trainee firefighter can earn up to £7,395.00 per year(before basic training),
  • A firefighter in Development can earn up to £7,702.00 per year,
  • A Competent firefighter can earn up to £9,855.00 per year
