Local artist, Jeremy Thomas’ new painting is entitled, ‘A Light to Reveal’. Here he tells us more about it.
“It is a bit of a step away from my usual paintings of more local scenes and industrial scenarios, but the style remains the same … a bendy Bethlehem.
The painting has taken many months to produce and was originally intended to be finished for Christmas last year. Like most of my work it is in oils on linen canvas. This time I’ve splashed out on some gold and silver paint too. Look out for the silver stars that are reflected around the enthralled and joyous angels.
There are lots of little messages in this painting too. The specific flowers, for example, have been chosen to represent different virtues, as they were in paintings hundreds of years ago. Also look at the cross in the shadows; a reminder of what is to come… maybe the angel looking out of the image has seen this.
I hope that you enjoy the painting and that it inspires a little Christmas cheer. You can see the painting at Craft Renaissance in Kemeys commander, near Usk, for their Christmas exhibition. If there is a church somewhere nearby that would like to borrow it for their Christmas service then I’d be happy to lend it to you.”
