As the year turns the Trustees and Manager of the Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau want to pay tribute to the hundreds of volunteers who, from a proper distance, masked and gloved, supported their community and each other, during these extraordinary times.
Working in partnership with other organisations, businesses and agencies, they have offered their help to those who have needed it and given unstintingly of their time and energy.
Support to the isolated
Since March of 2020 the Volunteer Bureau with others have been offering a practical and much needed service to those who for a variety of reasons have needed help with shopping, accessing medication, posting and delivering parcels, telephone support and befriending.
Santa’s Helpers
Before Christmas Volunteer Elves were making sure that all donations to Santa’s appeal arrived safely to Brecon Children’s Services Team ready for Santa to deliver to the Children on his list.
Delivering Christmas Cheer
Volunteers worked with Rotary members to make up nearly 60 hampers for distribution to those in the Community needing support over the festive season.
Volunteer Marshals
During October 2020 in Sunshine and Rain our stalwart volunteers were responsible with healthcare professionals for the successful “drive through” flu vaccination event at Cwrt y Gollen. A rehearsal perhaps for the main event.
Current Events
Kerry Crosfield, seen here supporting already recruited volunteer marshals for the Covid 19 Vaccination roll out for Front line workers, is now in the process of processing many candidates who have volunteered to aid with the main roll out of vaccinations in Powys.
And Finally
The Volunteer Bureau are still recruiting more drivers to take those who need help to medical appointments, and also befrienders who can offer a couple of hours friendly support to the elderly and also to families who are struggling due to the current situation.
