Another year has passed and here starts a new one…full of good intent and resolve, but if you’re anything like me, any grand ideas usually last until week two…if that!
I need encouragement to get me going, so if you enjoy being out out in the fresh air and want to meet people who are like minded but find it difficult to get going, then the Crickhowell Walking Festival is just what you need! The Crickhowell Walking Festival runs from 24th February to 4th March, 9 days of guided walks around Crickhowell and the Black Mountains. There are walks suitable for all levels of walkers, gentle ones and for the more energetic folks, there are walks which are longer and more strenuous, take your pick!
There are also various events during the week, on the first Saturday afternoon there are Crafts and Activities for all the family in The Clarence Hall, in the evening there is a talk by Christopher Somerville who is sharing his story of a year of walks. We have Sarah Maliphant telling her story of how a chance encounter changed her life. Visit Wales has 2018 as the ‘Year of the Sea’ and Alan Bowring, the National Park Geologist, takes a look at how we have a connection to the sea. There is a quiz night and music from the Semantics. Surely something for everyone!
The Crickhowell Walking Festival is now in its eleventh year and it is great to see our regulars come year after year…meeting up with old friends is a real treat!
If you are after inspiration or just a gentle nudge to get your walking boots back on, then the Crickhowell Walking Festival is just what you need. Go to their website for more details www.crickhowellfestival.com
