Dance Blast is delighted to be presenting two exciting dance performances at the Dance Centre this Autumn.
publicity-image-for-plan-b-for-utopia-photographer-nicole-guarinoJoan Clevillé, a Dundee based choreographer, whose piece ‘Plan B for Utopia’ is a humourous look at our lives and the plans we make and break. A combination of dance, theatre and storytelling, with a good dose of humour, featuring two versatile and charismatic performers.

“You have a plan, and then you don’t. You have a dream, and then you wake up. You fall in love, and your heart gets broken. The question is: do you pick up the pieces and try again?”
Featuring music by Judy Garland, John Lennon and Louis Armstrong among others, the soundtrack of the work shows how the idea of utopia is embedded in our everyday lives and popular culture. Suitable for ages 9+

SpiltMilk ‘Say Dance’ offers a unique experience – part amusingly clever performance, part dance social where you the audience get to join in. It really is great fun!  ‘Say Dance’ re-imagines popular dance crazes that have swept dance floors all over the world! The first half of the evening sees the company’s three dancers put their unique spin on familiar dance favourites – think Disco dancing to Sinatra, the YMCA to Mozart, and The Twist on chairs.

In the second half it’s your turn! The chairs are pushed back, and everyone is invited to put on their dancing shoes and join in a social dance like no other,  with the dancers mingling and a caller making sure you all go the same way.

You’ll get to have a go at long-forgotten folk dances you learned at school, glitzy disco dances and even elegant ballroom moves, all to some unexpected musical choices from a live musician. Suitable for the whole family.
