Mid Wales Autumn Fayre is to be held on the Royal Welsh Showground on the weekend of 2nd – 3rd October, 2021.
Although a new show comprising of a food festival and craft festival on the showground its roots emanate from the Brecon Food Festival. The Brecon Food Festival would have been held in the market hall in the centre of Brecon and is a very popular event. It was this popularity that created the problems of social distancing at the venue as it was always an enjoyable but crowded event. Taking Covid into account organiser Andrew Powell came up with the Royal Welsh Showground as a suitable alternative venue for the now called Mid Wales Autumn Fayre.
Andrew commented, “The small artisan businesses that normally exhibit with me have had a torrid two show seasons and if we could find a way of putting a festival together then we had to try.”
As it is the Mid Wales Autumn Fayre will be the host for 60 artisan food and drink stands in addition to 35 arts and crafts stands all under cover with other fast food stands in the same area of the showground.
Having the festival on the showground has so many opportunities but also limits the family attraction with just food & drink alongside arts & crafts.
Andrew Powell’s response was, “We wanted a festival that was family orientated and my other hobby is vintage vehicles, so the Mid Wales Autumn Fayre will also have vintage cars and also vintage farm machinery”.
Entrance to the Fayre is free but there is a small car parking charge of just £5.00 per day.
The food and drink producers are all Welsh or from nearby Herefordshire so shopping local is to the fore. But for those with a deeper interest in local food and drink the Mid Wales Autumn Fayre also has a food and drink careers area plus a demonstration kitchen with a mixture of local chefs and those from the Culinary Association.
We shall be updating this page on the Welsh Country website over the next three weeks with news of exhibitors and all other things that are relevant to the Mid Wales Autumn Fayre
