It’s that time of year when we start to prepare for Christmas. This year, C.J Copner Ice Cream Vans are supporting two local charities as part of their Magical Santa Appeal in the lead up to Christmas. Here’s how you can support them.

Food Bank Appeal

Trussell Trust foodbanks provide three days of emergency food to local individuals and families in crisis. By donating to the foodbank you can help support local people in crisis. So if you have tins lurking in your cupboard, or food sauces that you never eat, then keep in mind that somebody else can certainly make good use of them. The following is a list of items, which are currently needed by the Foodbank. You can donate directly to them or with Chris when you see his ice-cream van!

  • Milk (UHT or powdered)
  • Fruit juice (long life carton)
  • Cereals
  • Pasta sauces
  • Tinned sponge pudding
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Soup
  • Tinned rice pudding
  • Tea bags/Instant coffee
  • Instant mash potato
  • Rice/pasta
  • Tinned meat/fish
  • Tinned fruit
  • Jam
  • Biscuits or snack bars

In addition to the list are toiletries and household items. Items must be well within date, unopened and undamaged

Umbrella Appeal

This year C.J Copner Ice Cream Vans has teamed up with the Umbrella Appeal at Nevill Hall Children’s Centre.

They are asking for donations of new toys for the Children’s Centre. These toys will be given out to children with a disability and/or developmental difficulty living in North Monmouthshire, Blaenau Gwent or North Torfaen.

One small toy from you might go unnoticed, but for someone else it could make their Christmas.

Chris is collecting for both appeals now and will do so right up until Christmas itself. The Foodbank will be closed from 21st December, so donations made after that date will be delivered after Christmas when the centre re-opens.

Chris is happy to arrange collection from any schools that decide to organise a collection to support the appeals. If you would like to get in touch with Chris please send a message via the Facebook Page: ‘C.J.Copner Ice Cream Vans Abergavenny’ or email
