This Saturday, Crickhowell offers the perfect start to the holiday season and a wonderful way to get into the festive mood! Start by enjoying mulled drinks and mince pies in the welcoming warmth of the Oriel CRiC Gallery at the CRiC Centre in Beaufort Street and browse their annual festive exhibition where you’ll find paintings, prints, glass, ceramics and much more. As well as beautiful objects of art, the centre also has a selection of cards, advent calendars, gifts and Welsh products available to buy, which make perfect stocking fillers.
Grab a bite to eat at lunch time from one of the many eateries that will be open during the day. Here at the Focus we’re big fans of The Bear’s gorgeous Christmas displays and sumptuous winter fare and, of course, browsing through the books at Book-ish for gift inspiration (not forgetting to have a slice of cake too!) The fabulous independent shops on the High Street and Courtyard must be lingered over. There’s something here for everyone; young and old and we’re pretty sure you’ll find plenty of gift inspiration for even the most discerning of tastes!
Excitement reaches its peak at 3.15pm when Father Christmas arrives in town, not forgetting the Christmas light switch-on at 4pm, so make sure you’re not late!
Crickhowell recently won the prestigious award for the UK’s Best High Street, and it truly is a wonderful destination for shoppping, eating, browsing and soaking up the atmosphere of the truly independent High Street and fabulous community spirit. And don’t forget, the magic doesn’t end there; Crickhowell’s popular annual Late Night Christmas Shopping event takes place on 6th December, with Christmas Fair stalls spread across three venues and live music being performed throughout the town, so there’s really no excuse not to pay a visit!
