With a beautifully presented selection of work, both “Time for Tea” (11 Nov. – 10 Dec.) in the CRiC Studio and the annual “Christmas at CRiC” exhibition in the oriel CRiC gallery are proving very popular. The gallery is the perfect destination to linger and enjoy paintings, prints, ceramics, glass, sculpture, textiles, gifts and cards.
Taking their inspiration from a wide variety of sources, the paintings by members of the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales (RWSW) showcase the many and varied approaches to using watercolours.
Suzette Pratten said, “The gallery first welcomed the RWSW to Crickhowell in 2014, when the Society had been honoured by the bestowal of the prefix “Royal” to its title by Her Majesty the Queen, and we are delighted to do so again during this festive exhibition. The variety is endless and embraces both tradition and innovation from artists such as Brecon based Robert Macdonald, Roy Powell and Rhian Symes or more recently elected members such as Jacob Buckland and Harriet Lloyd amongst others. Rhian Symes has been an elected member of the Society since 2018 and a regular exhibitor in the oriel cric gallery. A comprehensive collection of original work in the gallery and in the Centre’s conference room is giving visitors a rare opportunity to view her unique mastery of watercolour. In the spirit of the festive season, she is offering a number of her original paintings and prints at reduced prices for the duration of the exhibition. This includes some previously unseen work. Visitors are relishing her skill in capturing wildlife reflected in our rivers and canals.”
She added, “Both the gallery and the downstairs retail area are showcasing beautiful original gifts and seasonal inspiration. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors with mulled drinks will be during Crickhowell’s Late Night Shopping evening on 7 December when CRiC’s community Christmas tree decorating competition will be in full swing. It is a great opportunity to catch up with our regular supporters and welcome new friends.”
