Focus Magazines The local magazines for Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Brecon & Talgarth – Events, News and Advertising

This month we’d like to introduce Elaine Blanchard who is working closely with the Abergavenny Community Centre to shape the Community Kitchen. Elaine has a catering and hospitalities background and is making a real contribution to the work of the Centre.

Elaine lead the refurbishment of the new kitchen facility, where she now prepares meals and trains the volunteers that support ‘See you for lunch’ every Wednesday, and the popular Friday Coffee Morning.
The Community Kitchen has opened a creative way to respond to people’s needs. In May, we’re opening a ‘pop-up café’ every Monday10am to 2pm. The menu will be wholesome, simple and inexpensive (donations) and people are welcome to stay and chat, or get food to eat on the go.
New things are coming to the Centre too, as we prepare to launch the Community Fridge scheme which provides a way to share excess produce, and fresh food and drinks with people, who, for whatever reason find themselves in a situation of need. Food can be accessed, freely, by individuals or families, and will be particularly helpful when ‘things have gone wrong’ or if there’s a crisis to avert.
Now! Here’s one for your diaries. The World Café starts Friday June 2nd at 7pm. This (monthly) meal promises a new horizon to Friday, by highlighting the rich cultural tapestry of a diverse Abergavenny.
Please ‘like’ & ‘share’ the Community Kitchen facebook page. Contact 07751666481.
