Volunteers at Abergavenny Community Centre are turning a piece of tarmac wasteland, where old buildings have been removed, into a beautiful garden space, helped by children from the Community Kids Group.

The new garden uses paving, gravel, slate, plants and picket fencing to provide a vibrant and tranquil space, with echoes of the seaside. It is surrounded by raised beds, which are full of vegetables planted by people who come to the weekly Gardening Club.

If you are interested in coming along and helping with the gardening, the Gardening Club meets every Monday, 2 – 4pm. You don’t need to have any gardening experience – just come along and join in. There are always plenty of jobs to do – sowing, planting, weeding, watering, picking, amongst others. It’s a great chance to be outside, meet other people and watch this beautiful place flourish.

Abergavenny Community Centre is a not for profit organisation that serves the local community by providing a space where residents and local groups meet. These include Friday Coffee Morning (11am), Origami Club, Chair Exercises, Men’s Shed, Gardening, National Childbirth Trust, Friday Night Knitting Club, Meditation, Ti a Fi Welsh Medium parent & toddlers, Mini Movers 0-3yrs, Friendship through bereavement group, Wise Women group, Hear to Meet – with a focus on people with hearing impairments, Single parent families group, Wye Valley Slot Car Association, Abergavenny Light Opera Company, Abergavenny Bridge Club, Lush Tums yoga for pregnant women, Boogiefit, Karate, and table tennis to name a few.
