Brecon Farmers Market is a popular event which attracts both residents and visitors. It takes place at Brecon’s historic Market Hall on the second Saturday monthly and during summer months there is an extra market on the fourth Saturday at The Muse in Glamorgan Street, Brecon.

The Farmers Market in Brecon started in the summer of 2000, giving space to local makers and food producers who sell seasonal vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs, cheese, plants, flowers, bread, jam, chutneys, honey, real ale, pies and much more. Many of the food producers have won awards for their produce so customers can be sure that the food and drink is of top quality. In recent years Brecon Farmers Market has developed into a community hub where families and friends meet for a chat in the Love at First Bake Farmers Market Café, where they can also listen to the live music provided by local musicians.

It’s not just food that can be found at the Farmers Market. There are also demonstrations from craftspeople such as Harry Chapman who turns beautiful wood products with his lathe and Jo Hughes who spins and weaves local wools to form exquisite scarves.

Simon Mackenzie-Mason, Brecon Farmers Market Steering Committee Chairman, who also runs a business known as The Gourmet Gardener, is keen to spread the word about the market, saying:
“Spice up your lunch, stock up on treats. Stalls at Brecon Farmers Market offer healthy, tasty, affordable, sustainable produce from ethically minded community traders. Customers can be confident of the origin of the food and are welcome to question the local producers and sample their food before buying. We want the town of Brecon to be bustling with people and produce.”
