Fancy a Big Day Out this summer?
Following the sell-out success of the Big Day Out 2015, the small but perfectly formed outdoor farm festival is returning for a whole weekend from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd July 2016 at Humble by Nature in Monmouthshire; the working farm owned and run by Kate Humble.
Friday evening’s brand new comedy evening features Miles Jupp, host of BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz. Gareth Malone will be leading farm sing-along sessions for kids on Saturday afternoon.
Alongside the sensational mix of comedy, food and crafts, there’s live music from Swing from Paris, Grace Hartrey, Railroad Bill, The Monty and Life Of Reilly.
For festival first-timers, Big Day Out gives you plenty of reasons to bring the whole family to the jam-packed event and try out a festival for the first time. There are lots of free activities for children with the Jitterbug Circus, Wild Tots outdoor play, craft workshops, the Mad Hatter’s tea party. Or learn all important survival skills like den- and fire-making in the bush craft field.
Saturday Kitchen presenter Matt Tebbutt has helped to create a truly mouth-watering weekend of outdoor cookery and demos. Joining Matt on the Esse demo stage are Jane Baxter, Romy Gill (Romy’s Kitchen), Freddy Bird (Bristol Lido), David Jones (Manna from Devon). Enjoy delicious food from local favourites Dusty Knuckle with their wood-fired pizzas, Native Breed’s award-winning frankfurters and Hang Fire Smokehouse’s tempting ‘slow and low’ style barbeque.
Show off your strength and skill at the traditional Farm Olympics with welly-throwing and tug-of-war. Head over to the well-being zone for some well-deserved relaxation; massage sessions are available all weekend or try yoga and salsa-cise on Sunday morning.
