Pupils at Goytre Fawr Primary School in Monmouthshire delivered over 60 presents to the Children’s Ward at Nevill Hall Hospital for Christmas last month.
The gifts had been donated by the school’s pupils for children who would be spending the festive season in hospital. Three of the school’s house captains took the presents to the hospital. They dressed in Santa hats and had a tour around the Children’s Ward with Bev Trinder, Play Specialist at the hospital.
In an email to the school Bev Trinder said ‘Your donation of Christmas Gifts was extremely generous and we are so very grateful for your support. We rely very much on donations from the local area and am very pleased that our first one, from yourselves, has been so fantastic.’
The school intends to make this a regular feature of their Christmas celebrations. Lisa Wilkinson, Deputy Headteacher at the school said ‘Through talking to the children about these donated gifts they have realised how fortunate they are.’ One pupil said ‘I can’t imagine not spending Christmas at home with my family. I’m glad we are giving them presents.’
