Service for people with dementia in the Crickhowell, Brecon and Usk Valley area
We need your help.
George is a 62 year old man who enjoys walking and has a keen interest in rugby. He can no longer pursue these interests on his own having lost his confidence since developing dementia, and is becoming increasingly isolated. Could you help George, and people like him?
A service which enables people with dementia to continue to do the things they love is run by the Alzheimer’s Society in the local area. Trained befrienders are matched with people with dementia to help them continue to enjoy their interests and hobbies, to maintain community contacts or just to have a friendly chat.
If you are a caring person who is willing to learn about dementia and can offer a few hours a week to spend time with people like George, we would be delighted to hear from you.
The service offers a perfect opportunity to support people living with dementia to continue to feel part of their local community.
No special skills are required and experience is not necessary as training will be provided.
