DSC02420-(1)Will Barnes is possibly best known for his work with classical crossover group “Gypsy Fire” and his fresh approach to all aspects of the instrument has met with critical acclaim. Having been mentored by Gary Potter and Martin Taylor, Will has performed with a diverse selection of musicians including, Frank Vignola, Alan Barnes and John Etheridge as well as regularly touring with some of the UK’s most exciting musicians. He cites influences from the worlds of Jazz, Folk and Blues and not an insignificant dose of rock and metal – spanning from Django Reinhardt, Kenny Burrell and Pat Metheny to John Martin, Jimi Hendrix and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath). Completing the group on double bass and drums are the fantastic Tommy Mills and George Jackson along with top UK jazz musician Casey Greene on reeds and flute, to present an eclectic program of Bebop, Gypsy and Latin jazz standards as well as a brand new collection of heartfelt, progressive, original compositions from their new CD “It’s About Time”. Will’s pure and enthusiastic passion for music is both infectious and captivating so catch this chance to see him in his most natural environment, exploring the music that makes him tick.
