A turf cutting ceremony has marked the start of work on Blue Cedar Homes’ first development in Wales, exclusively designed for homeowners over the age of 55.
Mrs Phyllis Merton Jones performed the ceremonial “first-cut” on the site of her new home at Knoll Gardens in Abergavenny, her home town. Mrs Merton Jones was joined by Blue Cedar Homes’ Head of Construction, Paul Jones and Heather Cook from Parrys Estate Agents who are marketing the nine detached purpose-built homes on land just off Brecon Road.
Mrs Merton Jones, who currently lives less than a mile away from the development, was quick to reserve the first house at Knoll Gardens after seeing the plans. She explained: “When I first heard about the new homes being built in Abergavenny I was very interested. I’ve lived in my current home for 50 years and although I love it, it’s a bit too big for me now and it takes a lot of hard work to maintain the house and the garden.”
Mrs Merton Jones added: “I am a keen gardener so Knoll Gardens appealed to me because the houses are set in landscaped gardens which are taken care of by Blue Cedar Homes’ visiting Estate Manager. I will also have my own private rear garden so I can look after my own plants and shrubs without the worry of having to cut the grass. I’m really looking forward to moving into my new home which is close to town and to my family.”
Each of the nine homes at Knoll Gardens will have its own garage and private rear garden. The freehold properties have been designed and built to be easily maintained and adapted should the homeowner’s needs ever change.
