This August, the doors opened to The Marches Delicatessen.
The shop on Nevill Street has been the realisation of a long held dream for the new owner, Tom Lewis, to open a delicatessen which places an emphasis on high quality, locally-made produce. It has also provided him with the perfect platform to showcase the fine artisan foods which are made in the same area that he grew up and lives in today.
The delicatessen stocks a large range of cheeses and charcuterie made locally throughout Wales and the surrounding Marches region, alongside hand-picked produce from across Europe including olives, oils and antipasti. You will find a wholesome selection of famous regional names and some less well known but equally tasty options. Most of the stock is made using traditional methods which means that it is not always mass-produced and therefore unlikely to be found in the popular supermarket chains. Tom will often visit the local farms and suppliers he uses to see firsthand the passion and dedication which goes into making what he considers truly exceptional produce. Sample tasters are available so you know your purchases will be something you are equally guaranteed to like and enjoy.
For those extra special occasions the delicatessen will be providing a bespoke hamper service, promoting a variety of favourite foods and wines from across the region.
Tom says; ‘I look forward to welcoming you at the shop and truly hope that The Marches Delicatessen will establish itself in the minds of the people as a place to go for fine cheese and charcuterie,’
