mailMonmouthshire Museums Service is looking for five local residents to become tour guides/ambassadors for its summer exhibition at Abergavenny Museum celebrating the cultural impact of Llanthony Priory.

‘Sites of Inspiration’ (see above previous story) features original artworks by JMW Turner, Thomas Gainsborough plus manuscripts by William and Mary Wordsworth.  The free exhibition, open until September 28th shows how our greatest artists have been inspired by the beautiful Monmouthshire landscape.

Volunteers will work closely with the Museum Curator on honing their skills to enable them to become confident exhibition guides. They will work at the Museum, located within the town’s castle, talking to visitors and helping make their visit extra special.

Abergavenny Museum is looking for enthusiastic communicators who have an excellent knowledge of Llanthony Priory and ideally of some of the works of art that it has inspired.

The project will begin in mid-July, and our guides will need to be available to work at the Museum on a minimum of four days between mid July and September 28th, when the exhibition
ends. It’s also hoped that any recruits will forge longer-term relationships with Abergavenny museum, helping to promote future exhibitions and events to the local community and visitors alike.

If you’d like to find out more about this fantastic opportunity, please call Joanna on 07584 119592, or email exhibition@ceridwengroup.co.uk.
