For three days art can be found in many an unexpected place. Businesses in Crickhowell annually embrace the event by offering window display space for artists making the town a veritable feast for the eyes and pointing visitors in the direction of some of the venues.

At the heart of the “trail” the Oriel CRiC Gallery in Crickhowell has this year added an additional attraction by running an Open Art Competition and will mount an exciting exhibition of selected work from well over four hundred entries by both professional and amateur artists. This has been made possible with generous donations of prize money and funding support of Brecon Beacons Rural Alliances.

With 14 venues within easy walking distance of the town, Crickhowell does make a good starting point for the Open Studio weekend, but with wonderful work on offer as far as Brecon and beyond Abergavenny, there is all the more reason to explore further afield. Artists have a knack of choosing beautiful spots in which to live and work. Open Studio co-ordinator Suzette Pratten said, “The Crickhowell Resource and Information Centre takes great pride in co-ordinating this annual event which has become such a popular addition to the tourism calendar. We look forward to welcoming visitors and showcasing the wealth of art which has become the hallmark of the weekend.”
