Autumn-Mist-in-the-BeaconsJenny Joice is best-known for her specialist work in capturing the personalities of both domestic and farm animals with her painting commissions of pet portraits. Less known is her keen interest in painting directly from the wonders of nature.

Jenny’s artistic skills evolved during her classical training in the Florentine studio of the renowned Nerina Simi during the 1960’s. Over the years, she has exhibited widely, undertaken commissions and taught in a variety of media including oils, pastels, water colours, pen and ink and carbon pencil.

In collaboration with Gwent Wildlife Trust over the spring, Jenny is delighted to offer three workshops set in three of its very different reserves: the coastal waters and marsh lands of Magor Marsh (Friday 11th April), the spectacular woods and streams of Silent Valley (Saturday 17th May) and the stunning flora and fauna of Pentwyn Farm (Saturday 14th June).

The object of the programme is not only to develop our painting and drawing skills for both beginner and experienced alike, but also to connect more deeply with the wonders of wild life all around. When we allow ourselves to be deeply touched by nature, something of our own unique nature calls for self-expression — and we surprise ourselves! In the process we discover something of our creative potential!

Whether painting or drawing, participants may use the medium of their choice.
