With school summer holidays just around the corner now is the time to start thinking about things to do over the coming few weeks. Abergavenny Museum and Castle has a whole host of activities to keep your family occupied.

Every Monday morning throughout the summer holidays we will be running family art and craft workshops which have very kindly been sponsored by Abergavenny toy shop, Fable. You can make and take all sorts of things inspired by our museum collections including medieval tiles, Roman pottery and even a WW2 identity card. There will be costume to try on, objects to handle and trails around the museum and castle grounds.

And if you want to get outdoors why not try one of our castle explorer backpacks, filled with fun activities to help you explore life in the castle 800 years ago. After all that activity relax and enjoy coffee and cake at our new picnic area or continue the fun and discover our wonderful living willow sculptures of dragons, castles and towers.

Having a birthday? Looking for a party venue with a difference? Make your child’s special day even more fabulous with a birthday party at the museum. We have a range of packages on offer which mix and match historical costume, arts and crafts activities, trails, games, party food and party bags.

So if you are looking for a fun filled family summer then look no further than Abergavenny Museum and Castle; A Georgian Hunting Lodge built on a Norman Motte, in the grounds of a Medieval Castle!
