The weekend of 12th & 13th July sees a mix of British & International Blues artists descend on South Wales for the 9th Abertillery Blues Festival.

Situated in the glorious Abertillery Park under the slopes of the Arael Mountains, Abertillery Blues Festival brings together a collection of the blues world’s rising stars and past masters.

The incredible line up includes local boys Henry’s Funeral Shoe, Irish singer-songwriter Gráinne Duffy, The Kings Of Rockin’ Rhythm & Blues – The Nightporters, the supremely confident Jo Harman & Company, British Blues Award 2012 winner Marcus Bonfanti, Mick Pini & Vincent Flatts. Mud Morganfield (eldest Eldest son of Muddy Waters) and Lucky Peterson featuring Tamara Peterson join The Blockheads as the weekends’ headliners.

This year the festival will open at 12pm on Saturday with a showcase of local blues bands. Friday’s music will start at 7pm.
Weekend tickets are £40 and available from www.abertillerybluesfestival.co.uk or the Box Office on 01495 355800. Friday, Saturday and Blues Club Member tickets are available, these can only be purchased through the Box Office.

Camping is available on site for £10 per tent, there is also a limited space for camper vans, these need to be booked in advance.

This year the festival is being extended until Sunday 14th July with Arty Party. This fun, free arts & cultural event will consist of a wide variety of stage performances including the famous and wonderfully talented Bruce Airhead, magic from Simon Sparkles and lots of community singing and dance. Together with a mixture of fun workshops, plenty of arts demonstrations displaying both traditional and modern skills and a selection of craft stalls.
