In 2010, Tenovus, Wales’  leading cancer charity, created their first choir and undertook pioneering research that proved singing to be beneficial for cancer patients; reducing their feelings of isolation, anxiety and pain.

Tenovus now run six choirs for cancer patients, survivors, carers and people bereaved through cancer, with their latest choir launched very recently in Abergavenny.

The choir meets weekly, singing a range of pop songs from Queen to Katrina & The Waves, Take That to Jackie Wilson! Rehearsals are lively and upbeat, with the focus on learning music at a pace that suits everyone. You don’t need to be able to read music or be a great singer to join in – every single voice counts!

Abergavenny Sing with Us choir meets at Abergavenny Baptist Church, Frogmore St, 6.30pm – 8pm every Tuesday. If you would like to join the choir then do come along to the next rehearsal, or if you want to find out more information you can speak to our Sing with Us team – call our Freephone Cancer Support Line 0808 808 1010, visit www.tenovus.org.uk/singwithus, or email singwithus@tenovus.org.uk

Throughout 2013 Tenovus will be launching even more choirs, right across Wales, so that anyone affected by cancer can become involved wherever they live.
