Do you enjoy singing into your hairbrush in front of the mirror, or warbling in the shower? Even if you don’t but you do fancy improving your singing voice, here is the perfect opportunity to do so on a free 6 week course run by Abergavenny-based men’s choir – Synergy.

If you haven’t heard of Synergy, they are an Abergavenny-based men’s acapella, close harmony-singing chorus with a different slant to the typical male voice choir. With a repertoire spanning showstoppers to soft ballads, the majority of their music is performed in four part harmony. And they’re good! In fact, Synergy is fast becoming recognised as one of the best choirs not only in Wales but throughout the UK. Last year they were voted “best UK small choir” at the prestigious Cornwall Male Voice Choir Festival, and earlier this year came second at the Torquay Festival, which is the highest paying competition in the UK.

If you currently sing, or previously have sung in another choir or group, this course will give you the chance to improve your vocal technique and try something new. If you are a complete beginner, the course will help you find your voice and boost your confidence. You don’t need to be able to read music as you will be provided with a teach CD.

The course follows one held two and half years ago which proved a great success, with 34 people taking part. “The whole course was run very professionally and was great fun. I would recommend it to anyone interested in improving their singing voice” said John Weekes one of the participants, who has since become a member of Synergy.

You will receive expert tuition from 2 experienced singing coaches, Andrew Walker and Martin Flory, both of whom have been part of UK quartet champions. This course will give you the opportunity to:

  • develop your voice and confidence
  • learn two songs in 4-part harmony
  • perform in a mini-concert for friends and family
  • have lots of fun and make new friends.
