On Sunday July 12th nine intrepid lads from the Abergavenny area set off from the Sugarloaf Mountain to cycle 160 miles to Snowdon. It took them three grueling days of uphill cycling, and they arrived in Llanberis on 14th July.

The lads decided to do the event to raise money for research into Crohn’s Disease, a cause which is close to their hearts as a close friend was diagnosed with the disease when they were in school together. One of the lads, Zach, said “We have all witnessed the effects Crohn’s Disease can have on a person’s life and I’m sure the thought of helping those suffering spurred us on in our last few miles”. Not content with raising a substantial amount through their JustGiving page (www.justgiving.com/sugarloaftosnowdon-MEN9150), and cycling the breadth of Wales, on the fourth day the lads climbed Snowdon, wearing charity t-shirts they had made themselves, and carrying collecting buckets, in which they raised a further £346. The total now stands at an incredible £3,102.87! The money raised will go to Kings College London for research into a vaccine which could offer the chance of a cure into this debilitating condition.
