This year’s Abergavenny Carnival takes place on 13th July and is set to be a day full of excitement and colourful spectacles, kicking off with live entertainment from 10am in Cross Street, followed by the Carnival Parade at midday, which makes a welcome return this year.
An afternoon of fun and entertainment begins in Bailey Park from 12.30pm where there is a jam-packed programme of events organised, including live bands, comedy tightrope walkers and mascot racing. Paws for Thought dog display team who have performed on Britain’s Got Talent and Crufts as well as other prestigious events, will perform races, fun agility, tricks and amazing ‘ring of fire’ stunts! Children and adults are encouraged to get involved with the games and tricks and participate in the ‘meet-the-dog-and-team’ session during the afternoon.
The Solent Eagles children’s motorcycle display team based in Hampshire, will also be at the Carnival performing fabulous stunts and displays for everyone to enjoy.
As well as all this, you can hop on a vintage 1960’s double decker London bus from the bus stop in Lion Street, and enjoy a trip around the town. Of course, running concurrent with the Carnival will be the Abergavenny Festival of Cycling, making it a truly bumper weekend with a lively and fun atmosphere and something the whole family can enjoy.
Be sure to go along to the Carnival this year. The event is tirelessly organised by a group of dedicated volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to make the event come together. The event is completely free, so there’s no good reason not to get out and about and enjoy all the fun!
